Sometimes, a change of discipline gives a horse the chance to show what he really enjoys. For Sir Heartbreaker, affectionately known as Harri, that has meant swapping the sulky for a rider.
The five-year-old trotter had already been doing well in his races, but his introduction to monté — trotting races ridden under saddle — brought something extra special.
In just four monté starts, Harri has recorded three wins and one second place. He appears to have found a discipline that suits him beautifully, showing a different turn of speed under saddle and plenty of enthusiasm for his work.

His groom, Annika, describes the difference:
“He enjoys it so much and picks up speed in a completely different way compared with racing in harness.”
EquiNectar has been part of Harri’s daily feed ration since the end of last year. It has been lovely to follow his progress as he discovers a way of racing in which he seems both happy and comfortable.
With such an encouraging start to his monté career, we look forward to seeing what comes next for Harri.
We wish Harri, Annika and the whole team the very best of luck in their upcoming races.
