Horse of the week – BUDDY

HORSE OF THE WEEK

BUDDY

"After trying a few other products, I came across EquiNectar and decided that it was worth trying to see if it would help my horse, Buddy.

He is a Connemara and being a good doer it can be tricky to manage his weight without exposing him to pasture and feed that makes his symptoms worse, particularly through seasonal changes. I highly suspect he has hindgut issues which are very difficult to diagnose but displayed classic symptoms like not willing to go forward when ridden, very anxious when starting to tack up and would nip when girth being done up, erratic spookiness and tension when being ridden, smelly droppings. These symptoms have been occurring throughout various times of the year in varying degrees but always worse late autumn/early spring.

He has now been on EquiNectar for 7 weeks and his behaviour has improved. He willingly goes forward off the leg, is much calmer and less spooky when being ridden, his droppings are no longer smelly and normally formed. He still very much likes his food but I now feel happier to ride him to be able to help manage his waistline.

I’m hoping to start taking him out to clinics again soon and hopefully we might even get back out competing."
