Horse of the week – Luna

HORSE OF THE WEEK

Luna

"So this is Luna who I bought back in 2019! 8 months after buying her she went 'off' when I was riding - just didn't seem comfortable or happy when asking for canter. So we did a lameness work up and found out she had severe arthritis and my vets told me to prepare she may not cope being ridden again! We started our treatment journey and then slowly started a rehab programme.

Luna started displaying some strange behaviour; when you'd take her rug off she would just explode, bucking and rearing, and then this started happening every time someone would walk a horse past her stable. I spoke with my vet and said I think she had ulcers so we scoped and she had minor pink patches, started the ulcer treatment and within a week behaviour stopped! So fast forward to 2025 and she started doing this behaviour again and also becoming very unhappy with being tacked up or rugged, she always has been from day I got her (did scope in first couple weeks having her and no ulcers) but she just seemed extra unhappy so again I listened to her and scoped her! She has been diagnosed with glandular ulcers.

We started using EquiNectar and her behaviour started to improve with her rugs and girth! We are due to start ulcer treatment this week so with the support of EquiNectar hopefully Luna will be back to her normal self again!

Can't recommend this product enough, really has helped my mare! "
