Horse of the week – Darcy

HORSE OF THE WEEK

DARCY

"I would like to share our wonderful story since we found EquiNectar. I have owned a beautiful ex-racer called Darcy since April 2017, when I purchased her straight off the tracks. She is now 13. Being an ex-racer, I soon realised she had quite a lot of issues and was diagnosed with mild kissing spine and soon started to show bouts of intermittent lameness. I rehabbed her for the kissing spine and purchased an Equissage, which I used and still use on her at least 4-6 times a week. After going backwards and forwards to the vets over a number of years having lameness work-ups etc., being treated for ulcers (which I feel was pain and grass-related), joints medicated, I eventually decided to take her for an MRI to get a firm diagnosis, which revealed she had tears in her DDFTs in both front feet, an old injury from racing..

As you can appreciate, I was devastated as we had been on such a turbulent emotional journey together, and this horse is my absolute heart horse. However, I spoke with Darcy's physio and we decided to try her with a 6-week intensive course of Indiba and, dare I say it, since her last treatment she has been totally sound and I am able to enjoy Darcy like I thought I never would. I was told I would probably get 2 years with her, 2 years expires in August, but she is now feeling the best she has ever felt and I feel this is due to the time, commitment, careful farriery and management.

Where did EquiNectar come into it? Well, Darcy has always struggled with the grass and her tummy, especially when the seasons change and we get a flush of grass. Whilst on camp last May, I got talking to some girls who were trialling their horses on a product called EquiNectar, and they told me the difference in their horses was amazing. Me being me, and wanting to help Darcy wherever and whenever I could, decided to give this product a go. Wow, what can I say, I am totally blown away with the results. My happy girl is back and never once has the grass affected her since she has been on it. There is no 'crabbiness' or 'grouchiness', and she is back to the beautiful, cuddly thoroughbred that I purchased. When I first started with EquiNectar, I actually messaged Tim to ask if I was giving her too much as she was squealing and bouncing around, and this wasn't even on the recommended dosage. We soon decided that the reason for this was that Darcy was feeling so happy and comfortable, she was just enjoying life again and not in any discomfort. When the seasonal grass comes up then I increase her daily amount slightly, but the rest of the time she is on 50ml twice daily for maintenance and this seems to suit her.

I can't recommend this product enough and have a few girls on our yard that have now purchased this fabulous product on the back of seeing how it has helped my girl. I would also like to add that the company goes above and beyond to advise and help. Tim discussed Darcy's requirements at length prior to me purchasing the product and also talked me through the benefits of EquiNectar."
