HORSE OF THE WEEK

HARRY

"I first purchased Harry as a 2-year-old in 2015, which means I've had him for 8 years now. I was informed that he had a tendency to windsuck when I first went to see him. My initial thought was that he might have ulcers. As I had never dealt with ulcers before, I found myself questioning whether I could manage them. However, after spending some time with Harry, I fell in love and decided to buy him.

I allowed him time to settle in before taking him to get scoped, confirming my suspicions — he had grade 3 and 4 ulcers and some scar tissue from ones that had healed independently. After receiving treatment and another scope, he was declared ulcer-free.

In August 2022, I tragically lost Spike, my other 19-year-old horse that Harry had spent 7 years with. They had been turned out and stabled together, forming a close bond. I did everything right for Harry in the wake of Spike's loss, including providing him with stomach treatment, and I even showed him Spike after he passed — a heartbreaking experience.

Approximately six months later, however, I noticed Harry losing weight and his coat becoming dull. Despite increasing his feed and introducing an additional feed during the day, he continued to deteriorate before my eyes. This triggered me to call the vet, who conducted a blood test and a stool sample analysis. Unfortunately, everything came back clear, but Harry's condition was worsening. There were even a couple of days when he stopped eating completely and showed signs of colic.

I decided my only option was to treat possible ulcers. I acquired Abler omeprazole and Abler sucralfate and started his treatment. Halfway through, Harry wouldn't eat the treated feed anymore. It was a nightmare.

Then, EQUINECTAR entered my life. I cannot recall how I heard about it, but it has truly been a godsend. Harry loves it; he licks his bowl clean every time, often looking for more — something he's never done before. Slowly but surely, his weight and condition have started to improve. I honestly believe that this product has changed Harry's life.

A huge thank you to the entire team at EQUINECTAR. Your product is truly amazing."
